Description: Short but very interesting. Situated on a hillside, so it’s up and down. No flat lies - water on six holes.

Description: Gently rolling fairways, beautiful big trees, very scenic setting against the mountainside. A traditional course with average-size greens, well bunkered. Number 18 is an excellent finishing hole. Bermuda Greens.

Description: A mature course with wide open, flat to moderately rolling fairways.  Level greens with modest breaks. In average condition. Well trapped with some water. Bermuda Greens.

Description: Original 18 has flat to moderately rolling, medium-wide nonparallel fairways. Greens have moderate breaks. Some are small. Lots of big lakes - water in play on many holes. Mature trees. In excellent condition. Has unusually good practice areas. New nine has a links feeling with well-contoured fairways and not as much water. Large, multilevel Bermuda greens.

Remarks: Also has an 18-hole putting course. Formerly Lawrence Welk’s Desert Oasis.

Description: A challenging, well-groomed executive course with water on 13 holes. Medium-wide fairways and well trapped. Appeals to mid-to-higher handicappers, but a good place for low-handicappers to refine their game. Bermuda greens.

Description: Accuracy is essential because of small greens, narrow fairways and many big trees that come into play. No parallel fairways. Water on seven holes. In good condition. Bermuda greens.

Description: The first six holes on this course have many grass bunkers, while the second six holes feature extensive use of water. The final six are long and challenging with many sand bunkers and some water. The course is always in fine condition. Some of the Bermuda grass greens can be tricky.

Remarks: The first Billy Casper design in California is a very interesting course. A second course is planned, and the club will eventually be private.

Description: A short par-three course in a mobile-home park. All holes about 100 yards. Good condition. Bermuda greens.

Remarks: No driving range.

Description: Laid out among large dunes and mature desert trees. All advantage was taken of the natural terrain, and if you stray from the fairways you will have some interesting experiences. Bentgrass greens.

Remarks: Course is reminiscent of Ballybunion in Ireland, including the wind at certain times. One of four local courses rated four stars by Golf Digest.

Description: A links-type course that is surprisingly hilly for the desert. Heavily trapped. Very large, multilevel greens. Water a major factor on seven holes. Five sets of tees. A fair and demanding course. Tifdwarf Bermuda greens.

Remarks: Site of the 1997 Don Drysdale Hall of Fame Classic.

Description: Mature course with rolling fairways. Water a factor on many holes. Immaculately maintained. Large, multi-level Bermuda greens.

Description: Traditionally designed, mature course. Immaculately maintained. Well bunkered with several lakes. Moderately rolling fairways. Holes 9 and 18 are fine finishing holes. Bermuda greens.

Remarks: No houses on the course.

Description: Very wide fairways. Four sets of tees.  Large lakes come into play on ten holes. Greens are quite large - some ate two-level. New nine is integrated with original 18. New holes are links-type with many bunkers. Bentgrass greens. Big, deep traps.

Remarks: A well-maintained resort course. Can be windy.

Description: The first Michael Hurdzan design in the desert offers generous landing areas, but a multitude of bunkers, and striking scenery. A true desert course and quite a challenge. Tifdwarf Bermuda greens.

Remarks: Second course under construction.

Description: Traditional course with average-size greens and some water. Gently rolling fairways. Renovated in 1992 and beautifully maintained. Bentgrass greens.

Remarks: Was the late President Eisenhower’s home course in the desert.

Description: Gently rolling narrow fairways, several lakes. Bentgrass greens.

Description: Well-maintained, moderately priced par-3 course.

Description: Somewhat less open than the East Course. Same general type of terrain. Large lakes on five holes. Numerous traps. Bermuda greens.

Description: A spacious layout. Quite rolling to hilly with some steep slopes. Open fairways. Large lakes come into play on four holes. Many large traps. Maintained in good condition. Bermuda greens.

Description: Course features wide fairways and large Tifdwarf greens. Water comes into play on several holes. In excellent condition.

Remarks: The first of two courses to be designed by Palmer is called The Grove. Host course for the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic in 1996. Additional 9 opened in November 1997.

Description: Medium-wide fairways, mostly flat except near wash. Lightly trapped with water on only two holes. On some holes the rough is the untamed desert. In good condition. Bermuda greens.

Description: Mature with many big trees. Relatively flat but with tight fairways. Some elevated greens.  Requires accurate shot making. Mountains close by on a number of holes. Moderate amount of water. Bermuda greens.

Remarks: One of the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic courses.

Description: Heavily contoured with some changes in elevation. Well bunkered. Good use of water. No two holes are alike. Challenging par 3’s. Tifdwarf Bermuda greens.

Description: An executive course comprised of all par-three holes. Eleven of the holes are longer than 150 yards. Water on four holes. Fairly flat. Bermuda greens.

Remarks: Least expensive course in the desert. Only night-lighted course.

Description:Gently rolling fairways with two lakes. Strategically bunkered. Large Bermuda greens with substantial breaks.

Remarks: A Bob Hope Chrysler Classic course.

Description: Another Pete Dye challenge. Rolling fairways with the usual Dye bunkers, large, contoured greens and plenty of water. Bentgrass greens.

Remarks: Members have privileges at all La Quinta Resort courses.

Description: A difficult links-type course. Rolling fairways with tricky greens, large bunkers and water on eight holes. Bermuda greens. Pete Dye’s first desert course.

Description: As the name implies, lots of water. Water comes into play on 21 of the 27 holes. Rolling terrain, average-size Bermuda greens with moderate breaks. Immaculate condition.

Description: One of the top executive courses on the desert. Limited access in summer.

Description: Well maintained resort courses. Appeals to all skill levels. Wide, rolling fairways with two and three-level greens. Much water, both scenic and in play. Bunkers everywhere. For a test, play the back tees. Bermuda greens.

Remarks: The Valley Course was a Golf Digest nominee as best new resort course in 1988.

Description: Moderately rolling fairways with washes that are playing factors. Some holes are very close together, so be alert. Large greens - some of them are two-level. Well maintained for a course that gets heavy play. Bermuda greens.

Description: A real Pete Dye test with acres of traps, large and severely contoured greens and fairways with lots of humps and bumps. Water on left of seven holes, so don’t hook! Good landing areas on most holes. No out-of-bounds, but don’t stray into the desert. Bentgrass greens. Traditional design with medium-size, contoured greens. Fairways are rolling and are of average width. The 18th is on everyone’s list as a great golf hole. Moderately rolling fairways with many palms. Water on a number of holes. Well trapped. Excellent condition.

Description: Rolling fairways with many bunkers and lakes. Impressive landscaping. Contoured greens.

Remarks: The first Gary Player course in the desert is a fine test and a very fair course. One of only four local courses rated four stars by Golf Digest.

Description: A challenging course. Can be very windy. Front nine fairly wide open with big, undulating greens. Plays up and downhill. First three holes on back nine are spectacular. They go up the mountainside. Good closing holes. Bentgrass greens.

Description: Rolling to hilly course with narrow fairways, lots of lakes plus a small stream in the river channel. Course is well maintained and well trapped with a number of elevated greens. Bermuda greens.

Remarks: Clubhouse is open to the public.

Description: A links-type course with huge fairway bunkers and pot bunkers around the greens. Sculptured fairways with small landing areas. Impressively landscaped. Water is in play on 12 holes. Bentgrass greens.

Remarks: The first Jack Nicklaus Layout in the desert.

Description: This course features water hazards on every hole. Well maintained with medium-wide rolling fairways and various-sized two-level greens. Well trapped. Bermuda greens.

Description: Nine holes with two sets of tees. Flat and fairly open with one of the most interesting par-3’s in the desert: You hit over a mountain! Well maintained. Bentgrass greens.

Description: Holes range from 65 to 105 yards. Water on every hole. Contoured fairways.

Description: A mature course in good condition with gently rolling, wide fairways and medium to large contoured greens. Moderate water and traps. Out-of-bounds right and left on most holes with only two parallel fairways. Bermuda greens. Clubhouse and pro shop were recently renovated.

Description: The best of the mobile-home-park executive courses. Fairways quite rolling and well trapped with top-quality sand. Large Bermuda greens in excellent shape. Some water.

Remarks: No practice range. Very well maintained in spite of heavy play

Description: An interesting design with rolling fairways and some difficult greens. Well trapped. Wide fairways with water on seven holes. Holes 9 and 18 are real challenges. Bentgrass greens. In good condition.

Playing Policy: Open to public; walking hours anytime. Tee times seven days in advance.

Description: Extensive use of water. Well trapped. An excellent par-three course in very good condition. Bermuda greens.

Description: Flat course with level to slightly-breaking greens. Large, mature trees along fairways. Can be windy. Holes are close together, and some are parallel. Water on three holes.

Description: Both courses feature lots of water in large lakes, rolling terrain with medium-size fairways and large, multilevel Bermuda greens that are heavily trapped. The course is very well maintained.

Remarks: The Challenge Course is the toughest executive course in the desert.

Description: As with most Nicklaus courses, multilevel fairways and difficult greens. Several blind holes. Beautifully landscaped. Bentgrass greens.

Description: A more traditional design but with plenty of trouble. Rolling fairways, considerable water and many bunkers. A true challenge from the back tees. Bentgrass greens.

Description: Another more traditional design with rolling fairways, square tee boxes and extensive water. Greens vary in size.

Description: The Stadium Course, famous from many TV appearances, hardly needs description, but you have to play it to believe it. Huge bunkers, lots of water and greens with devilish breaks. New Tifdwarf Bermuda greens.

Description: A good test but not as demanding as the Stadium. Multilevel fairways. Difficult, heavily trapped greens of varying sizes. Water on many holes. New Tifdwarf Bermuda greens.

Description: Tifdwarf Bermuda greens.

Description: Gently rolling terrain with narrow fairways. No bunkers. Water on 16 holes. Holes generally range from 115 yards to 150 yards. In average condition.

Description: Older part of course has wide fairways, and the rough quickly becomes desert. Water on 17 of the 27 holes. Terrain varies from rolling to flat. Bermuda greens.

Remarks: On the grounds of the historic Floyd Odlum-Jacqueline Cochran ranch. President Eisenhower was a guest here while writing his memoirs.

Description: Spectacular mountain setting in old san quarry. Features waterfalls and streams and many changes in elevation. Numerous bunkers. Has already received several awards for top courses.

Description: Very short course. Longest hole is 102 yards. Water and bunkers add interest. Colorfully landscaped. Bermuda greens.

Description: Robert Trent Jones Jr., has designed a traditionally styled course in a beautiful setting. Five sets of tees give everyone a chance. Large bentgrass greens. Course is heavily contoured with numerous water hazards.

Description: Narrow Fairways except on the holes that play over the river bed. Water on seven holes of the 27. Some parallel fairways. Bermuda greens.

Description: A moderately rolling course in good condition. Greens are small-to-medium with moderate breaks. A number of parallel fairways. Bermuda greens.

Description: Mature 9-hole executive course. In good condition. Bermuda greens.

Description: This reasonably long executive course is in fair condition. No bunkers. Several small ponds. Bermuda greens.

Description: This course is well-maintained and fairly flat with medium-wide, parallel fairways and many small trees. Moderately bunkered. Two lakes are playing factors on four holes. The Bermuda grass greens are moderately contoured.

Description: A short and well-maintained executive course. Most par-3’s are less than 125 yards. Water on eight holes.

Description: An older golf course with beautiful palms lining the fairways. The course is not too long but very interesting with level to sloping parallel fairways and small-to-medium greens. The holes are moderately bunkered, and water comes into play on two holes. Accuracy is a must. Bentgrass greens.

Description: One of the best-maintained courses in the desert. Water is in play on 11 holes. Superb bentgrass greens. Numerous bunkers and mature trees. Traditional design. A demanding and fair course.

Description: Flat to slightly rolling course with medium-wide fairways. Bunkers around greens, but few fairway traps. Tow holes with water. Longer-than-average holes for an executive course, including one par-5 hole. Average condition.

Description: Fairways are flat to moderately rolling with good greens. The course is well-bunkered with a moderate amount of water and Bermuda greens. In excellent condition. Some of the holes are rather narrow. The longest par-4 hole is 301 yards.

Description: Flat to slightly hilly course. Wide, tree-lined fairways. Medium-size greens with a number of breaks. No water. Bermuda greens.

Description: An excellent course with Ted Robinson trademarks of much water and scenic holes. Greens are well protected by numerous bunkers. Rolling fairways and contoured greens. One of the more scenic courses in the desert.

Description: Although this course is fairly flat with small-to-average greens, it plays tougher than it looks with subtle breaks in the greens and well-placed bunkers. Bermuda greens.

Remarks: One of the five courses in the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic rotation. The course is closed in summer.

Description: This traditional design features rolling-to-flat terrain. Tifdwarf Bermuda greens of average size. A pleasure to play.

Remarks: One of the oldest courses in the desert. Thunderbird was the original site of what was to eventually become the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic.

Description: Water on five of the nine holes. Traps placed in strategic locations. Holes are all relatively short. Mature trees throughout. Very scenic Bermuda greens.

Description: Beautiful setting in old ranch. Features changes in elevation, waterfalls and streams. Numerous bunkers. Very exclusive.

Description: Moderately wide fairways with some undulations. Small, sloping greens and bunkers. Water on most holes.

Description: Lins-style course in beautiful condition. Most of the rough is natural desert terrain. Many undulations and some elevated tees. Bentgrass greens.

Description: A striking setting and immaculately maintained. Many changes in elevation. Heavily bunkered. Large bentgrass greens with many breaks.

Remarks: Both courses were sites for the Senior PGA Tour’s prestigious Vintage Invitational for ten years.

Description: A Pete Dye layout with some of his trademarks - large, deep bunkers, large lakes and railroad ties. Somewhat “gentler” than most of his courses. Very rolling but with wide fairways. Play the back tees for a real test.

Description: Flat-to-gently-rolling terrain. Medium-to-wide fairways. Water on four holes. Bermuda greens with moderate breaks. A good scoring course in good condition.
